"Karen Irwin gave one of the most astounding, magnetic performances I’ve seen on a musical stage. Not just this musical stage. Any musical stage."
- Lou Harry, Indianapolis Business Journal
Join us for an evening with Cabaret favorite and Indy theatre veteran, Karen Irwin, for a final send-off before she moves to NYC this fall. She will take you on a final rockin’ musical journey through her personal transformation as inspired by Janis Joplin with such songs as “Bobby McGee” and “Mercedes Benz.” Irwin pays homage to the musical icon who changed her life.
An actor by trade, singer by accident, Karen has fronted several bands and performed all over the country. She has acted in numerous comedies, dramas, musicals and combinations of all three at theaters in and outside of Indianapolis.
Karen’s first venture in self producing was the festival cult hit A**holes & Aureoles by Eric Pfeffinger in 2009, which won her the Outstanding Female Lead In A Play award at the Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York. She sings jazz, blues and rock and can be heard on a couple of tracks of the tribute album to Indiana blues legend, Yank Rachell.
Karen is currently a voiceover artist and working on booking a national tour of her one-woman show, A Piece of her Heart: A Tribute to Janis Joplin. You can find clips of her particular madness on her YouTube channel or more information on the show at APieceOfHerHeart.com.
