About the Show

Fashion designer, Project Runway: All Stars judge, and media icon, Isaac Mizrahi brings his irreverent show, Does This Song Make Me Look Fat? to The Cabaret.  Praised as “a founding father of a genre that fuses performance art, music and stand-up comedy,” The New York Times hails the show as “raucously funny.”  Mizrahi will delight you with a collection of standards and pop songs, from Cole Porter and Charles Aznavour to Blondie and Bob Dylan.

He’ll be backed by a jazz band led by Ben Waltzer.  While Isaac may have played two sold-out runs at the famed Café Carlye, don’t expect a refined evening of jazz standards.  He will share irreverent stories and observations about life and promises to distribute hand-me-down swag from his party-going career to lucky audience members.

About Isaac Mizrahi

Isaac Mizrahi has been a leader in the fashion industry for almost 30 years. Not merely for his work as a designer but also for his crossover presence into pop culture. He was the subject and co-creator of Unzipped, a documentary following the making of his Fall 1994 ready-to-wear collection. The groundbreaking film received an award at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. He formed a groundbreaking partnership with Target in 2002 that helped trail blaze the concept of masstige. He hosted his own television talk show for five years. He has written two books, numerous articles, and has made countless appearances in movies and television. Currently he serves as a weekly judge on Project Runway: All-Starsand is at work on a memoir due out in 2018.

In addition to designing for the luxury and mass markets, Mizrahi has designed costumes for the New York Metropolitan Opera, the American Ballet Theater, and the San Francisco Ballet. He has also designed costumes and sets for Broadway and Off-Broadway shows including his own one-man show in 2000.

In 2010, Mizrahi directed and designed the costumes and sets for a production of A Little Night Music for the Opera Theatre of St. Louis. He returned in 2014 to direct and design The Magic Flute.

“Like so many other alt-cabaret stars he is determined to challenge the cultural status quo and help blaze a path into a more liberated future where few subjects are off limits.”
