7th Annual St. Louis Cabaret Conference
August 9-12, 2012
Interested in adding cabaret to your performing arsenal? Already experienced in cabaret and wanting to take it to the next level? Come to St. Louis and study with a top notch, nationally renowned faculty! The St. Louis Cabaret Conference, one of the nation’s largest and most successful performance training programs for singers, is accepting applicants for it’s 2012 workshop that takes place August 9-12, 2012. Past faculty has included cabaret legends Andrea Marcovicci, Amanda McBroom and Broadway’s Liz Callaway.
The award winning 2012 faculty includes nationally renowned cabaret performers Barbara Fasano, Eric Comstock, Jason Graae, and Rick Jensen. Collectively they have won multiple MAC awards and Bistro Awards, performed at every major cabaret room and concert hall in New York (incuding Carnegie Hall and the much lamented Oak Room) and are experienced on Broadway, in television and recordings. The 4 day workshop focuses on performance skills needed by singers of any genre (cabaret, jazz, musical theater, pop, etc) who work in front of a live audience. 24 singers selected from auditions will work in a supportive group setting to gain skill and insight into how to be more effective in a concert hall, club, recital, musical audition – virtually any live performance setting. Each singer takes awa a deeper understanding of who they authentically are, how to choose material that works best for them and how to connect clearly and effectively with their audience. Other topics such as show structure, patter writing and song arranging are addressed.
Cost is $750 for the four day workshop, and includes your tickets to faculty performances. Affordable, comfortable housing for out of town guests is available at a low rate of $205 for the entire stay. The St. Louis Cabaret Conference takes place on the campus of Webster University in St. Louis. The Conference culminates with a public performance Final Showcase featuring all the participants and takes place at The Bistro at Grand Center, a 150 seat jazz supper club.
