Screen and stage performer Carol Woods gave a Master Class at The Cabaret on August 11th, 2012. Her Broadway credits include Chicago, One Mo’ Time, Stepping Out, and Neil Simon’s The Goodbye Girl. Carol was also a 2008 Grammy Award Performer for the nominated soundtrack Across The Universe. This versatile performer has also appeared in films such as The Honeymooners, Steam, and Stepping Out (opposite Liza Minnelli). Here are some of her helpful tips for performers:
1. Do your song on stage the way you do in the shower. Commit!
2. When you are nervous just think everyone in the audience is your mom. They are all rooting for you!
3. Don’t let technique trip you up. Focus on the message and the lyrics.
4. Be you. If there were only red flowers in the world, the world would be boring.
